Custom geometric typography crafted into a metal paneled sculpture to compliment the Prismatic Mural. The sign includes an iridescent holographic vinyl overlaid on top of aluminum panels to give the effect of a prism. This plays off the concept of the mural, which is a pixelated rainbow prism.
Prismatic is installed on the façade of a chiller plant, the eco-friendly central hub for heating and cooling nearby buildings in Lake Nona Town Center. This installation meshes with the preexisting monumental artwork in Town Center -- such as the dichromatic glass of the parking garage -- and is an abstract representation of the colors reflected in light itself, also found in dichromatic glass.
The lengths of the columns in the design give the chiller plant upward movement, which makes the building appear taller. Long rectangles are at the top, and shorter ones are at the bottom. These rectangles are evenly aligned with the structure of the chiller plant.
The base concrete gray of Prismatic gives the mural an industrial look contrasting the colorful rectangles, which seem to pop from the background.
Horizontal movement is achieved by the subtly zigzagged grouping pattern of cool and warm tones, and the columns and rows of the vignettes create a harmonious effect. Twenty colors feature in the Prismatic palette; the amount representing the year 2020, during which the mural was designed and installed.
